By opting in to receive SMS messages from Michael Truong, MD (“we,” “us,” “our”), you agree to these Terms and Conditions (Terms).
SMS Messaging Service
By providing my phone number, I consent to receive SMS text messages from Michael Truong, MD for appointment reminders, marketing messages, and general two-way communication about your medical services. Message and Data Rates may apply.
Implicit consent to a specific telecommunication method is obtained by “Michael Truong, MD (a professional corporation)” is obtained by the patient utilizing such method to reach out to us. Such consent can be cancelled anytime by notifying us. Other forms of consent regarding communication are gathered in our patient intake forms.
Message Frequency
You will get more than one message from us unless you opt-out, and while messaging frequency varies, you will likely receive 0-5 messages per month. Michael Truong, MD reserves the right to alter the frequency of messages at any time to increase or decrease the total number of messages. Michael Truong, MD and carriers are not liable for delays or undelivered messages.

Cancellation/Opt-Out Instructions
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send you. After you opt out of text messaging, you will receive one additional message confirming your request has been processed.
You can opt-out of receiving SMS messages by simply informing us with at telephone call or in-person during your next in-person office visit with us.

Liability
We are not responsible for any charges, errors, or delays in SMS delivery or undelivered messages caused by your carrier or third-party service providers.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Related Terms
- Handling of your protected health information has specific terms set forth by the HIPAA federal laws. “Michael Truong, MD (a professional corporation)”; and other service providers (such as the SMS telecommunications provider) that we utilize have specific policies to protect, handle, and transmit your protected health information.
- The telecommunication provider that the patient utilizes (as a customer) to receive such information may not have the same policies observed by HIPAA. A consent from the patient to utilize telecommunication services for HIPAA information acknowledges this detail. We have a variety of telecommunication methods available, and further discussion about the technology behind telecommunications can be discussed and planned with you in person.
- Any telecommunication technology, such as SMS, may have failure in transmission at any point in the communication chain.
- If a patient is suffering a medical emergency, patients are expected to reach out to your local emergency service provider. Any emergency contact between “Michael Truong, MD (a professional corporation)” and the patient should have confirmation responses from our office. Otherwise, the patient should consider the communication incomplete and seek out emergency medical services from the appropriate local entities.
